I’ve known the owners of Wild Orchid for some time, we’ve built a long lasting relationship and creating a brand for them meant something special to me. The owners of Wild Orchid had strong columbian roots and had wanted to embrace that with their flowers.
Logo design – The colours were inspired by old Columbian design textiles, black and white. The monochromatic feel helped let the flower show the true colours, it was sort of like paint to a blank canvas. The overall design was an orchid and the letter W, which represents the name. The details in the curves were sharp and bold, I needed the expression of “wild” to be expressed. Finally I had tied the whole design together and give it balance and symmetry by putting a curved pattern around the orchid.
Stationary & packaging design – The overall style of design was to be monochromatic patterns inspired by Columbian textiles. This enabled us adapt to the times while embracing the rich colours of the flowers Wild Orchid offers.

Photography – Doing photography for Wild Orchid, I had to ensure I story told. I felt every gifted bouquet definitely had a story of love or compassion. I believed that if I could portray that, it would touch the hearts of the many Calgarians, giving or gifted. My goal was to not sell flowers, but to sell the idea of flowers.

Wix web design – Back in college I was taught to design a website by doing my layout first on paper, digitizing a mock up in Adobe Photoshop and then re-creating the design using code. Wix actually skipped the coding part and made the design part much easier and faster, using a simple drag and drop interface. Wix was chosen because the client had already been subscribed to that. In collaboration, we had created a user aimed intuitive interface, a main page banner for their upcoming offers and events and SEO optimization.
